I got name-checked on Eschaton, for noting (in comments) that an article Atrios pointed to misquoted Kanye West’s famous “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”* in a way that introduced stereotypically “black” grammatical errors.
This can only reinforce my street cred as a massive, massive grammar, spelling, and punctuation nerd. Holla!
* One of my favorite throwaway moments in the last Arrested Development episodes was the T-shirt Franklin had on that read “George Bush doesn’t care about black puppets.” Perfect.

This nerd is getting more and more annoyed by all the otherwise articulate folks who are effecting loose affect errors these days.

Are you sure that was a misquote? The re-mix that the Legendary KO did of “Golddigger” uses an audio sample, which I assumed was of Kanye West, with “George Bush don’t like black people.”
Tom’s a colleague of mine, so I’m a bit defensive, but still, I’m not sure you’re right about this.

It was in fact a misquote. Kanye’s quote is grammatically correct; the Legendary K.O. changed it for the chorus to make it flow better.

In fact, the audio sample at the start of the Legendary KO’s rap — which is named “George Bush Doesn’t Care About Black People” — is of Kanye West saying “…doesn’t care about.”
I am all about defending my own coworkers, so I get where you’re coming from, but he could’ve spent a half-second checking the line before throwing it in, especially considering that West’s an extremely articulate and well-spoken guy in general.

I just left a comment on this blog post that was about getting mentioned on a comment on another blog post.
